Who is Dr Eve?

The certificates on my wall testify that I have a B.A. Social Work (Hons), University of the Witwatersrand; MA (Clinical Social Work) cum laude, University of the Orange Free State; Doctorate in Human Sexuality, Institute of Advanced Study in Human Sexuality, San Francisco, USA and I am an internationally accredited Couple & Sex Therapist (AASECT).

Internationally I am a member of ISSWSH (International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health) and am on an ISSWSH sub committee. I am a member of BASRT (British Association of Sexual And Relationship Therapy) and I am an Editor and board member of the internationally acclaimed UK based academic journal Sexual and Relationship Therapy.

I am Co- Chair of an international committee of ICSM (International Committee of Sexual Medicine). We are researching a paper on HIV/AIDS ans Sexual Dysfunction which we will present at the ICSM meeting in Paris, July 2009. A prestigious honor!

I sit proudly on the board of SACAP (South African College of Applied Psychology) and am a very committed board member of Gender DynamiX.

The academic in me is very demanding - I meet this need in my positions as part time lecturer at Medical School, Department O&G, University of Cape Town as well as at SACAP (South African College of Applied Psychology). I deliver papers at scientific national and international conferences and address corporate organizations all over the world. My bedtime reading is latest Sexual Medicine journal articles interspersed with readings on religion and politics.

I am a writer with my own columns in Move!, Longevity and expert on www.women24.com. I enjoy my role as contributing editor for Best Life and delighted with my association with the newly launched Destiny magazine.

I am the proud author of Pillowbook, published by Oshun, a best seller that was launched in February 2007 and went into second print 6 months later. It awaits international publication. Dr Eve Sex Book - A Guide for Young People - Rights, Responsibilities, Rewards published by Human and Rousseau, 2008, is set to become the most important and relevant comprehensive sexuality education book for South African young people and their parents. And presently I am writing my next book on Ageing and Sexual Health. This book is due for release in 2009.

I enter my 15th year on radio, quite a record for a freelance radio journalist! Presently you can hear me weekly on Good Hope FM, Radio 702 and Cape Talk. After hosting my own television show Pillowtalk during 2006, I am more in love with radio than ever before. Watch this space as my voice and face spreads into new arenas…

I am proud of the many recognitions, both locally and internationally, that I have received over the years. For example I am named in both national and international Who's Who, nominated for awards in writing and health arenas. Mostly I feel proud and privileged that I have been able to touch so many people’s lives over these many years. I look forward to being relevant, provocative, challenging and interesting for many more years to come!
