Minister Lulu Xingwana's comments about the Innovative Women Exhibition which featured amongst others the internationally acclaimed work of Zanele Muholi and Nandipha Mntambo has provoked imperative conversations amongst gender and LGBTI activists and common folk. I felt embarrassment at how these comments highlight that we have people in government positions who clearly are ill equipped to mange the responsibility or the understanding their brief requires of them - and mostly how they are not coached to keep personal prejudice and ignorance at least undercover so as not to reveal so blatantly their own personal agendas.

I am crazy about the new Lelo and Fun Factory toys that just arrived in the shop. I sourced them from New York after seeing them at Babes in Soho. They are pricey, but are the new generation of sex toys. Sex toys are going "green'- I like that. I like that what we put into our vaginas/anus is as well considered as what we put into our mouths as in food.

This is the largest amount of snow recorded in decades in New York . I am afraid my flight will be delayed. The snow is magical. I walk with my face forward to receive the light snow and then find myself ankle deep in slush- I leave New York wet :) The last week has been filled with divas who disappoint, wise women who leave my heart stimulated and friends who are hard to leave behind.

You do not want to be coming to Tampa Florida USA for a holiday. For anything. After spending 4 straight days and evenings in the ISSWSH (International Society for the Study of Women's Sexual Health) annual meeting I got to get out the hotel doors today. As the conference came to an end I rushed out to meet the warm air and see the town. Nothing. Just nothing to see. Lots of gorgeous Florida water. I look forward to being back in New York tomorrow..

I walk through snow flakes, snow storms, try and avoid slipping on the icy streets and cannot take my eyes off the winter Olympics on television happening in Vancouver. This means I am wet a lot. I am living in a wonderland that includes visits to Toys in Babeland, premier toy store in New York , and hanging out with amazing people. Notably Candida Royalle and Betty Dodson.

You know the old saying :"threes a crowd." Consider the many different environments in which you find yourself in a threesome. It could be at work where you are the one left out of the twosome gathering at the water cooler. Or the secretary who feels like the third one out in a business where there are two partners. Threesomes always guarantees that someone is going to be left out, observing, waiting for attention from the other two. IT feels awful.

I gate crashed an invite to an American cultural experience- the Superbowl. Thank you Jordan. I grab opportunities for experiences so am grateful for this one- the game was unknown to me, ageing band The Who was half time entertainment but the people were interesting. As an observer of human behaviour I like to be in new places with new people.

I sit at my desk, gazing at the ships on the ocean, all my doors open, feeling the cool sea breeze. Next Monday night I shall be sitting in an apartment in Manhattan, protecting myself from the freezing cold weather , and when I look outside I shall see concrete.
