In February 2010 I was shopping in New York's local version of Clicks and saw a range of KY Jelly. I bought each one and spent my time in New York testing each one out- "a hard day's night" ,as the Beatles would have sung, "and I have been working like a dog".. :) I came back to South Africa and began harassing Johnson and Johnson for the rights to bring in this range - I was met with resistance at every door. Finally I have the range in store for you.

50 women arrived , ribboned in red. Excited, yet aware that the party was about raising our awareness of World Aids Day and 16 Days of Activism of no violence against women. Shandor Theron, a family lawyer, gave freely of his time, to educate the women about their rights - and most every woman had a quesiton, a complaint about domestic violence - I can only conjecture as to why... then the fun began..

16 days is not alot to ask for - 16 days in which no woman or child gets violated. I ask for 365 days, naively, knowing not in my life time. Statistics are staggering, stories of violence against women horrifies and what is missing is effective action that stops this epidemic, this public health hazard to women, societes globally. Policies are established, governments make pledges and yet within the intimacy of our lives men and women cannot commit to honour and respect each other. It is a traversty.

Revenge Rage is a common evolutionary manner of dealing with a partner who leaves you. The extreme form of that is femicide of which we have the highest incidence in the world: also known as Intimate Partner Violence it is when a beloved kills you for leaving him (usually men do this to women). I guess common decency goes out the window when one knows a valuable resource has just walked out the door. The true colours that were always there, the niggling uncomfortable bits that never went away, hit you in the face when you walk out the door and he/she practices revenge rage. So ugly..
