I love being a mother. Today someone asked me if motherhood is what I am most proud and without hesitation , I replied Yes. It is terribly difficult being a parent. I think the purpose of parenthood is to raise children to leave us. To be independent in many ways including financially, in their opinions, mobility, and in forming their own significant  relationships. We as adults barely achieve these tasks. Its a big ask to be a parent.

My Mothers Day was spent like many other Days: working, devoting myself to the care of myself through caring for others, enriching myself through others sharing with me. I ran a workshop for Linda Binder's group of women, a new initiative for her. I learn and learn working with women- I have just spent many many hours the last few weeks reading journal articles in preparation for upcoming presentations. But doing qualitative research , i,e, getting stories directly from your sample group, wins hand over fist for me, in rich outcomes. it continues to teach me how diverse we are as sexual beings. Trying to put us into categories, box us into "classifications" and "diagnostic criteria" is actually a joke - we are all so unique with , yes, some commonalities, but unless we as clinicians recognise the uniqueness of each person , we loose the patient, never effect change - quite fascinating and totally challenging work.

I am going to be doing a lot of presenting , teaching, talking this week and for weeks to come. If you are interested check out the calendar on the site.

I am also planning a DR. EVE PLAY PARTY- Sex and Soccer- so watch out for this event. If the boys can play with balls then the girls can play with toys.. I am always fascinated at the choice of toys women make - yesterday women chose lube (I am on a  massive lube campaign) and of course Layaspot vibes just vibrate out the door of every event. Once you see one, hold it and feel it, you will be sold- get your own . And if you have one, upgrade to Mystic Wand, my favourite toy.
