New trends in Masturbation.

My attention was drawn to an article in the Mail and Guardian, April 29- May 5 2011. The article titled "porn addication crosses genders" comments on how porn viewing  in women is increasing, women are "habitually" watching porn, similar patterns  emerging as their male counterparts. This was not particularly new news for me as clinically I am aware of this trend. I review the so called 'educaitonal porn" I am legally allowed to sell online. However I confess to not being a purveyor of  visual porn..I prefer erotic art, stories, images. I decided to go exploring.

I went to a well known porn site (also quoted in the M&G article) : www.pornhub.com. In a heartbeat I was thrown into a circus of sex. I was reminded that during my Doctoral degree in San Francisco we were taught that the place to learn about sexuality is on the streets. For example,in academia we may call someone clinically "Queer' only to be on the streets and hear that this is deemed insulting. And a new word emerges, brought by the people for the people.

I watch visual porn when I need to know what's going on "on the streets". And usually I am viewing some particular fetish that someone has brought into my therapy room and I need to learn more about it. I have not  viewed video footage on 'masturbation" for some time. And here  I saw that a whole new trend has emerged: anal masturbation.

I am not sure why I was surprised - we sell a lot of anal toys , mainly to men, so I guess I fell into my own complacency about women and anal masturbation. Just did not think about it much. A sure sign of  sexism .. I am ashamed of myself.  Until I saw the video footage. It seems that anal masturbation is part and parcel of any female  masturbation porn.

And this is how sexual trends begin - from porn to mainstream it takes a leap and a jump and suddenly its in bed with you, as in your new sex partner saying to you, "so masturbate for me" and when you get down and vanilla, he/she will say:"No I mean masturbate, as in anal masturbation".  I think its pretty neat.  As long as its consensual of course. Why not? It is  just another orifice to be filled, to play with, to generate arousal and pleasure.

I did want to scream at the directors, however, when these women haphazardly moved their vibrators from the anus straight into the vagina- that's a big no-no. You are merrily moving bacteria from the anus straight into the vagina. You need 2 different vibrators for this or using condoms each time. A great anal vibe for beginners is Bswish Bgee( http://www.dreve.co.za/shop/vibrators/clitoral/bswish-bgee-–-burgendy.html)and for women already practicing anal masturbation , you have to try out the just arrived new vibrators from Nomi Tang - great for both vaginal and anal play( http://www.dreve.co.za/shop/vibrators/vaginal/nomi-tang-getaway-pure.html)

I look forward to seeing all Mothers at the Dr. Eve Mothers Day Event on Friday 6 May. Call Moreeda to book :021-439-4004.

I learned I must include asking about anal masturbation to my clients, not just take for granted they are only doing genital/breast/body masturbation.
