It was a Thriller weekend - Id love to hear your opinions on the Michael Jackson movie. I sat in the deep pain of this talent so real , so hurt by us, his "adoring fans".Im not sure how anyone can survive sanely having the eye of the world constantly looking at you, both in admiration and disgust. Oh what a tragedy.
Talking about tragedy what do you think about Joost and his confession? is this another talent we, his "adoring fans" are about to destroy too? Im ambivalent about Joost- I hold no judgement on people who cheat. Unfortunately they suffer from the terrible consequences and whilst I empathise with everyone's pain, I do, however, deplore deceit- a bit of a contradiction I suppose. I object to Joost's confession , the fact that his book was bought up in the first week and that he will probably turn out to be a national hero - where are our boundaries and our own standards? What I see from this type of celebrity cheating confession is just how confused we the people are about cheating in general. It seems ok for some people some of the time...
Talking about cheating I found this piece of research on cheating fascinating. Its an article from the Journal of Sexual Medicine (March 2009) by Maggi et al. They used structured interviews , lab tests and examined men, between ages 18-80, at an andrology clinic, who presented with some form of sexual dysfunction. They discovered that the men who were having an affair (duration longer than 3 months) were the healthiest! Seriously - they had the least amount of sexual dysfunction, and most interesting, the highest levels of androgen, i,e. testosterone. These high levels of testosterone led to their sexual intercourse frequency increase, best erections out of the whole sample and a high interest to be sexual (with either both primary and secondary or only secondary) partners. What does this mean? Men who cheat were most likely to have primary female partners who had an illness, low sexual desire and a high level of marital conflict/dissatisfaction. As a clinician it means that treating both partners with sexual dysfunctions is essential, that affairs happen as they make men feel sexually satisfied and that affairs need to be prevented as much as possible - even if it makes you hornier
