There is a sickness in the pit of my stomach. I gaze at the image of the woman who was gangraped and forced to hear her son shot dead. I wonder what caused a man to create this form of torture. I know it is not pornography.
Pornography is blamed for causing crimes such as these, for making men so horny that they rape and torture women. What an insult to the average man, the average man who watches porn for recreational pleasure , who's biggest crime is that he keeps it secretive from his partner as society has shamed him not to share porn and has made her feel insecure about her body. I say this not as a means to minimize the horror of this mother, this woman, but to put in perspective about pornography.
Did you shield your children from seeing these images of a broken woman? Did you discuss the horror of rape , gang rape, femicide ? I am sure you have had opinions about TopTV's quest to begin 3 new porn channles on TV - and stated them vociferously in front of your kids. Do you allow your children to see adverts such as this Dolce and Gabanna one?
Help me understand why porn is so bad and violence so acceptable in images, discussions, games, clothing, to which we expose our children?
I say get it into perspective. Focus on protecting your children from violence and teach them how to be self loving respectable sexual people - don't worry about the porn - they will find it without you.
