I am happily married for 32 years and have 3 children all out of the house now. About 5 years ago my sexual drive started diminishing and now I have almost no libido and cannot get turned on. Most nights I tell my husband I'm tired. ( I only work part time) and once in a while we do have sex but I never have an orgasim and am always very dissapointed although I dont tell my husband as he does try very hard to see that I enjoy it but I just pretend until its over. I would very much love to get back to what we had in our earlier years when I enjoyed sex very much. Please tell me what to do.
You must be of an age when you are entering or have entered menopause. Loss of libido is one of the symptoms of menopausal onset. Do the check list under Tips and Techniques. Loss of libido at this age can .however, be caused by additional factors other than menopause- for example you could be depressed, on medication that diminishes desire, have an untreated/undiagnosed illness or you could be less than happy in your relationship. Perhaps you never enjoyed the sex you had and now it really does not work for you. You may have lost attraction for your husband. Of course life style factors may be getting in the way of your desire - smoking, overweight, no exercise, excessive alcohol. I suggest you get a gynecological evaluation of your menopausal status and take it from there.
