I am a pioneer, an adventurer. I need to go back to my family roots and investigate whether any of my ancestors were pioneers. I see the road ahead, it looks straight, quite simple to negotiate. But as I go down this road I begin to look sideways. I become curious about what's around the next corner. I wonder what surprises will await me if I drive down an alley. I see the bumps in the road but go there anyway.

The fact that you are  reading this blog is testimony to my urge for curvesJ I had the idea of writing a book on "Ageing and Sexuality" as I began my "pause'. No one wants to think about ageing as it is set up to be a dreaded disease , the beginning of the end - of life, fun and definitely sex. But when one is thrown into the inevitable, evidenced by hot flashes, moodiness , memory loss and a dry vagina with no desire to use it anyway, the need for facts, not anecdotes from your mother, grandmother or best friend, becomes as urgent as your need to pee.

I scoured book shelves all over the world and felt ashamed picking up a book with the title "menopause" in it. Sexuality was mentioned in brief passages of these heavily medicalised, hormone heavy books. And of course no one except gerontologists were writing about ageing. I was disheartened. So I approached Oshun publishers, who have so successfully published Pillowbook and sold them my idea. Without hesitation they said - go home and write and give us a book in  1 years time.

The book will be launched in August, it is in the bookstores and of course right here in my website store.

My idea has extended beyond the book: in my research it became clear that there are many services missing for older people.  This is due to discrimination and the mis belief that ageing people are not interested in dating, continuing to be sexual or looking great. This site has been constructed with you in mind: it is exclusively for over 50 year old people who want to learn, interact, flirt and date.

I urge you to make it your forum. Write me your concerns, questions, joys and pleasures. Guide me as to what you want in a site devoted exclusively to older people. I am going to trigger a sexual revolution - a sexual revolution for older people. I invite you to jump on the band wagon with me. Become an ageing and sexual activist.
