Tonight he mother of one of my 11 year old son's friends called me and verbally attacked me and my family for 10 minutes. Her major issue, though there were more, is that when her son was at my house, my son showed him some condoms (he collected them from the museum toilet) and they were filling them with water and playing with them. Her son then came home with a condom and showed some other friends. She feels that it completely inappropriate for them to have condoms in their possession and has said she never wants the boys to see each other again.
I on the other hand feel that it is good to demystify condoms and as long as the play is open and in fun, then I am fine with it. Are we being to liberal in our views?
Her other complaint is that my son runs naked from the shower to the bedroom in front of her 7 year old daughter. My son loves being naked and I don't want him to feel embarrassed by his body but I do understand that some people find it offensive. How do I get him to understand and remember that when at home he is allowed to run naked through the house.

Ignorance causes teen pregnancies, contributes to sexual violence and creates a society of sexually unhappy adults. I am so sorry for the ignorant harmful people with whom you have chosen to send your child to play with. They have done you a huge favour by ending their child's friendship with your child. Seek out like minded intelligent people to be your and your children's friends - why would you ever want your children exposed to this harmful, fear driven environment which , with continued exposure, will leave him fearful and ignorant too.
Keep growing your child with sex positive and critically important values of responsibility and consequences of bad choices. Keep teaching him your values around respect of self and others - as in nudity has to be respected and thus not open for exposure to every one . You are doing great. And you are choosing your child's friends based on their sexual values- it is a given that these same people have other values that may be ignorant, harmful and non serving to your child.
