Good day Dr Eve
I have a serious problem, my vaginal muscles are very loose, I have tried everything to assist me, i tried to do the Kegel Exercise but i am just not able to do it . I tried to put my finger inside my vagina so that i can feel my muscles contracting but i still cannot feel them, then I went to your website and got myself smart balls. I bought them last year @ the end of July and start using them the second week of September 2008.
My problem now is am I using them correctly and effectively. When I am using I am not sure if I am inserting them correctly, I can only fit one ball at a time, and walk around the house while busy with my chores at home. 20 minutes is enough and they will fall out, is this normal? After using them I am experiencing some abdominal pains is this normal? I do use lubricator gel.
Please Dr Eve I need your help, to use my ball correctly and effectiely and to do the Pelvic Floor Exercise. I need my vaginal muscle tight.

I can hear your distress about your PC muscle – understandably so.
From research we know that doing kegels on their own may not be good enough. This is because, as you say, women are never really sure if they are doing them correctly. So a toy like Smartballs is necessary. You are using them correctly – insert with some lube, then walk around so the muscle has to strain to hold in the ball.
It is perfectly ok to start with 1 ball. Ideally you should insert the second ball once you can keep the first one in for say 20 minutes. So I suggest you try insert the second one in now as the extra weight will further strengthen the muscle. However you should not experience pain. So stop and rather consult with a physiotherapist.
All women can benefit from pelvic floor treatment from a physiotherapist. I recommend you find one in your area and before booking an appointment make sure this health care provider can do PC muscle treatment.
