CLICK HERE TO SEE ME TALK ABOUT LEVEL 2 – HAPPINESS
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8xfS1eXIF4
After President Cyril Ramaphosa announced South Africa’s move down to Level 2, I sat with my feelings in my heart and sensations in my body. What came up first was Gratitude… gratitude that the economy will be somewhat revived, and people will have jobs, purpose and pride. Second, an awareness that the changes I effected from the beginning of lockdown, really make me happy.
I have fully embraced a mindfulness lifestyle, with daily practices such as Pilates, journaling, walks in nature, online meditation with great teachers, deeper engagement with people I love, both online and on nature walks.
Perhaps like me, you too continue to have roller coaster days, days which feel more difficult than others. My daily practice has really enabled me to regulate and rationalise.
I will continue to work from home and stay pretty locked-down, and physically distant, as the virus does not know the difference between Level 5 and Level 2.
What will enhance my happiness is twofold: face to face family time… well, mask to mask… in each other’s homes, and travelling in the Western Cape. I have neglected local travel as pre-covid-19, I used my time and resources to only travel overseas.
I invite you to assess your present level of happiness.
Complete this Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) and judge your satisfaction with your life as a whole. It will give you indication of where you need to give attention to improve your life satisfaction. Do it alone and then, if it feels safe, share it with a partner/friend/child/family member.
