About

The certificates on my wall testify that I have a B.A. Social Work (Hons), University of the Witwatersrand; MA (Clinical Social Work)cum laude, University of the Orange Free State; Doctorate in Human Sexuality, Institute of Advanced Study in Human Sexuality, San Francisco, USA and I am an internationally accredited Couple & Sex Therapist (AASECT).

I am a Clinician in Private Practice. I sit in my therapy room with couples -and individuals – on my couch for most of my day. Through the last 12 years of training I am a Sexual Medicine Consultant and Therapist. My area of special interest is onco sexology which is working with the sexual health of people with cancer, as well as people with chronic illnesses.

Yet it is always the fascination with relationships between two people that captures my attention and interest, irrespective of age and stage, illness or wellness.

Internationally I am a former Director on the Board of ISSWSH (International Society for the Study of Womens Sexual Health) 2009-2011. I am now a Fellow member of ISSWSH. I am international consultant for the academic journal Sexual and Relationship Therapy and reviewer for Journal of Sexual Medicine. In 2009, Paris meeting, I was one of the selected co-chairperson for ICSM (International Consultation in Sexual Medicine), the prestigious international body that sets standards of practice and management of sexual medicine.

The academic in me is very demanding  I meet this need in my position as part time lecturer at Medical School, Department O&G, University of Cape Town. I deliver papers at scientific national and international conferences and address corporate organizations all over the world.

I am passionate about training health care providers in Sexual Medicine. I begin teaching my first course through the Foundation of Professional Development in 2013.

I have been published in a number of academic journals. My bedtime reading is the Journal of Sexual Medicine, latest research on gender based violence, relationships, interspersed with readings on religion, science, militarism and politics. And for pleasure I read Vanity Fair and a well recommended novel.

My involvement with SWEAT, NGO working for rights of sex workers,is ongoing. I am a strong sexual rights activist, my main field of interest being Gender Based Violence and HIV and Violence Against Women. I offer training to NGOs and Government in this contentious and important work.

I enter my 18th year on radio, quite a record for a freelance radio journalist! In April 2011 The Dr Eve Show won the MTN best night time radio show in South Africa.Currently I have my own weekly show on the Redi Tlhabi Show on Radio 702/Cape Talk.

After hosting my own television show Pillowtalk during 2006, I am more in love with radio than ever before- even though I do television on request.

I am proud of the many recognitions, both locally and internationally, that I have received over the years. For example I am named in both national and international Whos Who, nominated for awards in writing and health arenas.

In May 2012 I was a finalist in the Business Women Association Regional Awards and am presently an active member.

My proudest work is with MXit. We launched the Dr Eve Mobisite in October 2012. It is the largest social media network in Africa, soon to be the largest, after Facebook, globally. It is here  that I talk to, educate and learn from the youth of the world.

Mostly I feel proud and privileged that I have been able to touch so many peoples lives over these many years. I look forward to being relevant, provocative, challenging and interesting for many more years to come.

Which brings me to the new website : This web site is a source of dedicated work and joy for me- being creative in bringing you bleeding edge information, top of the range sex toys and sexual health products.

This new web site was well researched and is in line with latest technology and trends-and what it appears you want from a DR. EVE web site. Bringing you into the blogs, articles, the shop, allows you to engage with your own sexuality, sexual health and relationships – this thrills me.

Keeping to my commitment of relevance this web site heralds in a whole new era for the Dr Eve brand. We’ve mixed it up, mashed it up to bring you the information, education and counseling across different technologies and social media : MXIT, Radio 702/Cape Talk and the DR EVE SITE blend to give you forums in which to listen, chat, read and learn.

And now we have a suite of rooms in The Equinox. The Dr Eve Sexual Health Center.  The first sexual health hub in Africa. It incorporates  my Clinical Practice, DR EVE SEXUAL HEALTH STORE and a Conversation Space wherein you will be able to pop into ongoing events (subscribe to be kept informed  of events)
